Young Women Camp goodie bags- For 15 years I served as staff at YW Camp in various assignments. I finally decided that it was time to let some other very talented person help out and 3 years ago was my last year (for now).

Each year at camp time I think (and miss a little) of the fun the young women and adult staff will have at camp. This year I decided to do something special for the girls attending camp. The theme is "For such a time as this.....". This was not the easiest theme to work with. The units will represent different eras in time. I couldn't think of a thing "clever" to do. I thought of the "Time" part of the theme and decided to do something with that. I thought of a clever saying that is ALWAYS used at camp about getting where you need to be on time. I then went to the dollar store and found teacher aids with clocks on them, snack baggies, "Dots" candy, and jawbreakers candy. I put it all together and you can see how it turned out. I think the girls will enjoy the treat along with the reminder to be on time. It was fun to do something that I totally just "wanted to do for fun" instead of "having" to come up with something.
In my time off this summer I completed a quilt for my newest grandson, Colter. I think it turned out great! I felt a bit rusty as it has been a long time since I made a "traditional" quilt. Used to be I was making quilts all the time- that was then. Now I seem to have so much more going on- different interests and hobbies get my attention and there is only so much time in the day. It was fun getting back to some sewing.
Raspberry Picking-
I remember when I was young picking berries with my grandma, grandpa, and parents. My aunt and uncle always had an awesome patch. When my kids were young we would go pick berries at Aunt Karen's house or my mom or grandma would take my kids picking.
This last week I went raspberry picking with two of my daughter in laws and two of my grand kids. It brought back a lot of memories of when my kids were young and when I was young. We picked 37 pounds in a couple of hours. In the following days I put up 30 cups of low sugar raspberry jam and froze a few bags of raspberries for baking.

It is so fun to do things with my kids and grandkids that I did as a child. I love to think that I am making memories for them that they will have for years to come.
